Ty completed his second year of golf school over spring break at my parent's club. He really loves all sports that he tries and we love that he enjoys them all so much.

A little more San Juan
On Friday we went to tour El Morro and it was beautiful, right on the ocean, a storm rolling in, good history, so much fun.
You could literally see the rain coming at you.
One of the lookout points. El Morro guarded the entrance to Old San Juan for the Spaniards until the Spanish-American war in 1898 where is was defeated by US warships.
The history on the island is so interesting & we really enjoyed it. Hopefully we can bring the boys back some day.
The end of Charlie's Angels was filmed here and while we were there Johnny Depp was there filming 'The Rum Diaries'. Our boat Captain told us so many movies are filmed there because it can look like the Caribbean, New Orleans, Cuba....etc.
On another note, getting into my car on April 22 and the temp reading 115 in the shade????? It's a bit to early for that!!! What happened to spring?
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Last Monday Eric and I took off for our first official 'vacation without kids' since our honeymoon, minus a few nights here and there to Temecula or Vegas in the past 8 years. Without my parents, Emily & Iven, I would have never felt so comfortable leaving my boys for so long. We went to San Juan and had a FANTASTIC time. We ate wonderful food during romantic dinners, saw beautiful sights, walked along the ocean, and took our time with everything. It was truly a great week and reminded my that I'm married to my best friend.
Old San Juan is a beautiful city that reminds me a bit of New Orleans with pretty pastel colors.

Most of the streets are cobblestone and end at the ocean which lends much to the charm. We met such nice people from San Bernardino to New Jersey to New Zealand and the locals could not have been nicer and always wanted to point us in the direction of their favorite restaurants.
One of the sentry lookout points at the wall that surrounds Old San Juan, it was built in the 1500's.
Enjoying the local fare of beans & rice with some Bacardi cocktails our first day. I have come to find a new appreciation for Bacardi....
....hence we couldn't leave the island without a tour of the largest rum distillery in the world...Bacardi. To get there we had to take a ferry, a taxi and short tour but at last...the sampling area seen above, built to symbolize their mascot-the bat.
A view of El Morro, a fort built by the Spaniards in the 1500s to protect San Juan from attacks. This was taken from the deck of our 'boat ride' which started out to be a 'fishing trip'. No fish on fishing trip=expensive boat ride. It was pretty though and our captain loved to talk so we learned quite a bit about the island.

Happy Easter!!!
On Sunday Ty & Julie went to church and then we all went to my parents and had a lovely egg hunt at their house and then went up to the club for a hunt and brunch, and they were not afraid of the Easter Bunny this year which was a big plus. My kids are now official egg hunting wizards after all of the hunting they have done in the past few weeks. The loved that the Easter Bunny came to our house too and chewed most of the carrot we left out.
One of our attempts at a family photo.

Oh the anticipation, Ty had figured out ahead of time that there were lots of eggs hidden in the golf carts (we get awfully creative in CA)

2009 Easter Party
Last Sunday we had 40 of our closest friends over for our annual Easter Party. The weather was great after the terrible wind storm and we all had so much fun.

Some wind and some fun.
We had quite a wind storm last Friday. We had some chairs end up in trees...
A playset blow over into our casita....
Fences between a few yards collapse...
And our tiki bar ended up roofless... the wind also took our grill and tossed it into the grass, scary!!! Thankfully we have Iven and some great neighbors who had everything put back together in no time.
