Birthday Bowling

On Friday a bunch of us went bowling and to Fisherman's to celebrate Emily's birthday a little bit more. Here is Vern with her 'I'm a superstar bowler' pose after one of her many strikes.

Happy Birthday to our Emily!

On Wednesday Emily turned the wise old age of 26. It was two years ago I called her from her online nanny ad and we both say it was fate, a perfect match. She loves our kids so much and they certainly love and adore her, we could not be luckier!!! The kids painted a box and we put her gifts inside. The twins have been practicing singing 'Happy birthday' and it is the cutest thing.
'Num-na', Mason & Luke. We ask the boys to say 'Emily' and they say 'Em-ee' but then we point to Em and ask them who's that and they say 'Numna or Numnee'. By the way, thanks to a diligent nanny and of course super talented kids, the twins are officially potty trained!!! No accidents for a few weeks and we don't put pull ups on them when we leave the house anymore. Eric took Mason & Ty to the tram yesterday afternoon and opted for big boy undies and Mason came home with dry Nemo.
Everyone 'helping' Emily blow out the candles on her Billy Reed's Boston Cream Pie, and if you have never had it, it is the BEST thing in whole world as far as treats go. Creamy, rich, chocolaty goodness. Heaven on the tongue as Jill would say.

A good friend & little ones.....

Kids are fascinated by the littlest things, at the park on Monday Mace, Luke & Zoe watched a bee walk around by the slide for what seemed like forever!!! (That it, until I stepped on it to protect them....they were just getting a bit too close and curious) I am not a big bee fan and since I swell up like a pufferfish when I get stung I really don't want to see what happens to the twins! Their three little heads together just looked so cute.
A happy Mason with his Auntie Julie (or Juu-jee)
My very good friend from college, Jill, had some work in Burbank last week and she stayed a few extra days to see me, it was so much fun!! I went to stay with her on Friday night and our hotel was across the street from CityWalk so we went and had dinner and talked for hours. Saturday we went to lunch and the casino and then some of my girls came over for a happy hour. In the 26 hours she was in Palm Springs Jill managed to do the required things: Coffee Bean, Fisherman's, lose some $ at the Spa & Taco Asado. I love that she always wants to go do fun stuff!!!
Jill & Luke at the park. Jill got a good dose of my kids and saw firsthand how I love the 'relaxing' lavender & vanilla lotion I got for Christmas, I really needed that! :)
So on Sunday afternoon Eric golfed & when the boys woke up from their naps Ty asked to go to the Children's Discovery Museum, he loves that place & he & I are members so we can go quite often. It is such a great place for kids 2-6, they can pretend shop, make pizzas, paint a car, do arts & crafts, dress up.....my kids especially like the bathroom, it has kid sized sinks, good thing we drove all the way out there to play in the sinks. That killed the first 10 minutes at the museum, then it was on to motorcycle riding & pizza making!!!

A new year...

It's been so long!!! Happy new year to everyone! Last weekend was one of our few rainy weekends we get here in Palm Springs. We all actually really enjoy these dreary days, now that our roof is new and rain proof we all love to hear the rain. Eric took Ty on a hike after it rained all day to a place called 'dry falls' and when it rains it's not so dry! The falls were flowing and there was a small lake at the bottom that Cali went in and out of about 20 times. I am so glad Ty loves to hike, I can't wait for the twins to get old enough to do it. This one is about a 4 mile hike, the trail goes away at the end and there is a lot of rock scrambling and options of directions. I was impressed that Ty only got a piggy back the last 1/2 mile home!!! Two days later Eric took Ty up to the tram (I had the camera so no pics) with a sled, there was about a foot of snow, and they played up there for a few hours and then had a dinner date together at Fisherman's, again-can't wait until the twins are older and we can all do that!!!
Luke enjoying a ride at Chuck E Cheese. It was his first time and he handled it like a pro. Mason does not like the 'pooty moss', or you can guess, spooky mouse.
Dress up at our house is a very common activity, the twins love to go in the hutch and grab my colorful napkins and use them as accessories, sometimes they are bandidos, sometimes pirates, sometimes cowboys, it's amazing what a pack of napkins from crate & barrell can be transformed into.
My scary boys and Julie the clown.
Julie took her boots off last night when she came it, Luke was quick to swoop in on those!! Another picture Eric is not too fond of....
