On Monday the 30th we hired a driver and loaded up the 7 of us for a day at Tulum and it's beaches.
It was a beautiful, hot day and Tulum was packed. They now have ropes around all of the ruins so you can't get too close. It was a bummer that it was so different and so crowded.
We did manage to get some amazing pictures.
Afterwards we headed over to Playa Paraiso for some cooling off.
I had two very pooped out boys on the drive home!
We had a late lunch in Tulum at a seafood restaurant that was packed....and a few hours we went down one by one...Terrible food poisoning, the worst any of the 7 of us has ever had. It was a rough 48 hours, a visit to the doctor and calls to our nurse and doctor friends at home. We almost took Luke to the emergency room, it was pretty scary. We all went to urgent care a week later when we got home, still having stomach issues, turns out it was Salmonella poisoning. We finally ended up celebrating New Year's Eve on Jan 2nd, that's about when we could stomach food again, and it was Italian, no more Mexican food for us the rest of the trip!!
